Description

Position Overview:

Record financial transactions, maintain financial records, fact check financial data and update financial statements. Ensure accounts are current and accurate using specialized software, spreadsheets, and other tools to track and manage data.

 

Essential Job Functions

Sales Audit

  • Reconciles cashiers’ registers
  • Posts daily sales and expense data
  • Prepare budget spreadsheet for daily review

Inventory & purchasing

  • Updates vendor pricing
  • Assists in calculating inventory needs for large, holiday, or unusual orders

Accounts Payable

  • Audits and posts vendor invoices
  • Communicates with purchasing on shortages, returns, credits etc.
  • Communicates with vendors on invoice discrepancies, odd charges etc.

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepares and sends statements
  • Posts A/R checks
  • Advises owner of overdue accounts. Collects, on a weekly basis, past due accounts.
  • Researches credit applications for approval

Information

  • Prepares daily, weekly, & monthly management reports
  • Updates company manuals, procedures
  • Writes general correspondence

Payroll

  • Audits employees’ hours worked each day and week
  • Prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll
  • Manage employee 401k and Health Savings Account contributions
  • Audit PTO use and balances

Compliance

  • Prepares and submits reports and funds for local, state, and federal laws and regulations i.e. monthly sales tax remittance.
  • Helps to ensure that Wright’s complies with risk management policies regarding safety, asset control, and emergency procedures
  • Protects and secures assets including checkbooks, house account invoices, and other assets

General Tasks

  • Filing and maintaining records
  • Ordering office supplies
  • Asset tracking (purchases, repairs & maintenance)
  • Simple computer tasks

Requirements

  • Understands accounting principles
  • QuickBooks: payables, receivables, general ledger
  • ADP Payroll
  • Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ready to learn new software: Cost Guard (recipe, inventory, purchasing), Simply Point-of-Sale
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Use of 10 key calculators
  • Written communication skills

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. General work schedule is Mon -Sat with a day off during the week. Six-day work week with OT is required during peak periods.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in accounting
  • Two years of accounting experience
  • Training or experience in computer applications
