Position Overview:
The Bookkeeper provides support to the owner and management team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in an ever-changing environment, and understands the demands of working in food service.
Accountabilities
- All bookkeeping and wide-ranging business support:
- A/P, A/R, GL
- Payroll
- Financial controls
- Audit daily reconciles
- Business reports
- Compliance (e.g., monthly sales tax prep, FMLA coordination, etc.)
- Collecting information & documents required for tax preparation, etc.
- Assist and coordinate with the management team on a wide range of business functions, including:
- Inventory, purchasing, & food costing
- Assist with workers comp & unemployment coordination
- Supplier & vendor coordination
- Forecasting & planning
- Budget preparation
- Perform the duties of the administrative assistant as needed
- Work in the operation on high volume occasions and during the peak season
Key Skills & Requirements
- General skills
- Highly organized work style. Uses systems, tools, calendars, etc. to manage accountabilities
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Master industry-specific software: food costing & inventory, POS, ERP, etc.
- Technical skills
- At least one (1) year of full-charge bookkeeping experience
- QuickBooks Desktop
- ADP Payroll
- MS Office (expert Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Associate’s degree in accounting (or similar) preferred
Other Requirements:
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri, and Sat schedule
- 11a- 7p shift except Monday, which starts earlier to process payroll & prepare weekly management reports.
- Six-day work week when needed, primarily peak season
- Consent to both pre-employment and post-hire reasonable suspicion drug testing
- Consent to a pre-employment background check (criminal and driving)
- Tobacco-free, smoke-free, e-cigarette-free property
Physical Requirements:
- Exacting standards of personal hygiene & appearance
- Balancing, twisting, bending, stooping, walking, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and climbing.
- Occasionally lifting or moving heavy items up to twenty (20) pounds
- Standing for periods of time (generally, during peak season)
- Shifts of 8-10 hours
- Comfort with working in a very fast-paced, crowded environment with co-workers and guests
- Must be able to tolerate considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, fumes, smoke, cold, unpleasant odors, and loud noise
