Position Overview:

The Restaurant Manager oversees all aspects of the Café, Market, & Catering operations. The ideal candidate is talented at managing & supervising, forecasting & planning, and upholding Wright’s standards & values.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of all employees in the Café, Market, and Catering Departments
    • Assign and direct employees in the Café, Market, and Catering Departments tasks and/or job responsibilities
    • Authority to hire, fire, discipline, or promote employees within the Café, Market, and Catering Departments OR effectively recommends decisions relating to the hiring, firing, discipline, and/or promotions within the Café, Market, and Catering Departments
  • Accountable for all Café, Market, and Catering operations, including:
    • Food production
    • Customer service
    • Delivery service
    • Meetings & events
    • Public areas (inside & outside)
  • Ensure that all staff uphold Wright’s standards & values, including:
    • Safety & sanitation
    • Quality
    • Consistency
    • Productivity
    • Profitability
  • Forecast, plan, and schedule, including:
    • Staffing
    • Production
    • Resources (ingredients, equipment, facility, etc.)
  • Readily support all departments
  • Implement, monitor, and control the budget
  • Perform administrative duties, prepare reports, etc.
  • Build and nurture relationships with the community

Operations

  • Extensive knowledge of safety & sanitation principles, food preparation & production and great customer service
  • Highly skilled at forecasting, planning, and scheduling resources (staff, ingredients, equipment, time, etc.)
  • Actively use Wright’s systems & process (ops manual, recipes, checklists, etc.)
  • Expertly perform the duties of any position in the restaurant or utility department.
  • Periodically assess systems and processes for improvements

Technical skills

  • Currently (or within the last 3 months) working as a restaurant manager, kitchen manager, sous chef, or similar position in a high-volume restaurant
  • At least two (2) years’ experience of supervising total  FOH and BOH staff of 20 or more employees.
  • Excellent customer service and strong cooking skills are required.
  • Organized work style. Uses systems, tools, calendars, etc. to manage accountabilities.
  • Read and understand financial information including food & labor costs, P&L’s, budgets, etc.
  • Good computer skills, including Word and Excel
  • Certified ServSafe Manager

Physical Requirements:

  • Exacting standards of personal hygiene & appearance
  • Balancing, twisting, bending, stooping, walking, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and climbing.
  • Frequently lifting or moving heavy items up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Standing in place for prolonged periods of time
  • Shifts of 10-12 hours
  • Comfort with working in a very fast-paced, crowded environment with co-workers and guests
  • Must be able to tolerate considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, fumes, smoke, cold, unpleasant odors, and loud noise

Other Requirements:

  • Consent to both pre-employment and post-hire reasonable suspicion drug testing
  • Consent to a pre-employment background check (criminal and driving)
